CURRENT SITUATION
• We had 7 new cases on Thursday. Six had symptoms, one is still under investigation, and none are hospitalized. They are:
A girl and a boy under age 13
A teenage boy
Two women in their 30s
One woman in her 50s
One woman in her 70s
• This week, the Shasta County Board of Supervisors approved the spending plan for Shasta County’s $21.9 million in Coronavirus Aid, Release and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding, which was provided to state and local governments to pay for COVID-19 pandemic response expenses. In addition to supporting the county response to this pandemic, the funds will also pay for:
– Grants for local small businesses.
– A crisis stabilization unit to help people in mental health crisis.
-ShastaCARES program run by Northern Valley Catholic Social Service, which will include counseling, job search, housing assistance, child care, food and gas assistance for people unemployed due to COVID.
– Resiliency skill building groups to assist community members in coping with anxiety and depression, and similar workshops for healthcare and education professionals to deal with stress.
– Dignity Health Connected Living’s warm line for seniors to access community services, utility assistance for seniors, and staff/vehicles for Meals on Wheels.
– Funding for One SAFE Place and Pathways to Hope for Children to reduce domestic violence and child abuse, including supportive parenting services.
