CURRENT SITUATION
• We had a total of 20 new cases on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sixteen had symptoms, one is still under investigation, and one is hospitalized. They are:
One girl and one boy under 13
Two women and four men in their 20s
Three women in their 30s
One woman and one man in their 40s
One woman and one man in their 50s
Three men in their 60s
One woman and one man in their 70s

• We are sorry to have to report a death today. The patient was a man in his 80s.

• Myth: “The only important numbers are hospitalizations and deaths.” Fact: Recovery from COVID-19 can take a long time, even in young adults with no chronic health conditions. The CDC reports that 1 in 5 previously healthy young adults weren’t back to their usual health 14-21 days after testing positive, while 90 percent of people with influenza recover within 2 weeks of a positive test. We are learning more about this novel virus every day, but lung damage, heart damage, blood clotting and other long-term problems are also being seen in some former COVID patients.

• Anyone can be tested for COVID-19. Go to ShastaReady.org and click on “Get tested” to find out the best option for you.
