The following questions were submitted to Dignity Health’s spokesperson on June 29 after ANC received information from staff members about COVID-19 cases and protocol at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Mercy Medical Center sources for this story are not identified as they spoke to ANC on the condition of anonymity.
1. How many staff members have been confirmed to test positive for COVID-19? Of those, how many are physicians, how many are nurses or other healthcare workers, and how many are non-healthcare workers? How many staff are in quarantine based upon exposure to the infected employees?2. Does Mercy Medical Center have enough PPE, including goggles, which are required in some departments?3. Regarding COVID-19 positive staff, have other employees been officially notified, and what measures have been taken to protect all staff?4. How many current patients at Mercy Medical Center are COVID-19-positive?5. Are patients scheduled for elective surgery being notified that some staff have tested positive, and given the option to reschedule/postpone their surgeries?6. What is the admissions protocol with regard to testing every patient who is treated or seen at Mercy, not just surgical patients?7. Is Shasta County and Human Services doing contact tracing to determine which employees may have been exposed to the infected employees?Thank you. Much appreciated.
