Current Situation:

• Shasta County has no new positive cases today.

• The Alternate Care Site that has been set up at the Redding Convention Center will be demobilized and stored in Shasta County where it can be activated and quickly mobilized again if needed. This is in accordance with approval from the Emergency Medical Service Authority (EMSA) and based on the low number of hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients locally and in surrounding counties. Hospitals have been able to stay well below the surge capacity, so it has not been necessary to care for patients at this site. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 hospitalizations and plan for any future needs to mobilize the Alternate Care Site.

• Shasta County will begin Phase 2 of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s plan for reopening California on Friday, May 8. This phase of reopening includes curbside retail, and the manufacturing and supply chains that serve retail. This does not include offices, seated restaurant dining, shopping malls or any other businesses listed in the governor’s Phase 3. A toolkit for businesses who are looking for guidance on how to re-open safely, and for consumers who wish to patronize those businesses, is available at www.ShastaReady.org.

• Testing options (all by appointment only):
o Healthcare workers and other essential workers with no symptoms: Visit https://lhi.care/covidtesting to make an appointment for this new walk-up testing option. Appointments are available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at Shasta College.
