After much thought and consideration, the Redding Rodeo Association announces the cancellation of
the 72nd annual Redding Rodeo May 13-16th, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A long-standing
tradition in our community, this decision was not taken lightly by the Redding Rodeo Association
Board. Our decision was based on the health and welfare of our community, contestants, and our many
volunteers.

For those that have already purchased their tickets, we will announce ticket transfers for next year’s
rodeo or refund options at a later date.

We urge you to follow the preventive and social distancing measures outlined by our public health
officials. Our hearts go out to all those now suffering from the virus and to the families who have lost
loved ones. We are also deeply grateful to those working on the front lines and risking their own health
and safety to save others and to provide important essential services. Thank you to health care workers,
first responders, public health officials, sanitation workers, social services providers, farm workers,
grocery workers, food bank, the restaurant community and the many others. We also want to
acknowledge our educators who are doing their best under very challenging circumstances to continue
to teach and engage our children.

The American Cowboy Tradition is important to all of us, the volunteers, sponsors, partnering
organizations and our community. The Redding Rodeo is a long-standing tradition where we look
forward to coming together as friends, neighbors and family to enjoy rodeo. We tip our hats and
extend our appreciation to the community, our fans, and sponsors who have stuck with us and help to
support the numerous charities and organizations that benefit from the annual Redding Rodeo. We
couldn’t do any of this without each and every one of you. We will be back in 2021, stronger and more
resilient than ever.
