On February 9th, 2020 at 8:26 am, Redding Police Officers responded to a report of train striking a pedestrian under the Lake Blvd. Bridge. When Fire and Police personnel arrived they pronounced an unidentified male deceased.

The southbound train was travelling at approximately 40 miles per hour and was rounding a corner when the train crew noticed the subject and began sounding its horn. The conductor of the freight train indicated the male had been sitting on the tracks and made no attempts to get out of the way of the train prior to being struck.

The Shasta County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy and attempt to identify the decedent in this case.
