On January 29th, 2020, at 11:47 A.M., Redding Police officers responded to a report of an assault in progress at the Sequoia Middle School, located at 1805 Sequoia Street in Redding. The school reported a 13 year old male juvenile assaulted a staff member, made threats, was jumping on vehicles, and throwing rocks in the parking lot. The school was placed on lockdown as Redding Police were summoned.
Redding Police arrived and took the juvenile into custody at 11:52 A.M., and the school was removed from lockdown status.
The assaulted staff member was treated at Shasta Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. No other staff members or students were injured. The juvenile offender was booked at Shasta County Juvenile Hall for suspicion of making criminal threats, and battery against a school employee. Per law, the juvenile offender’s name will remain confidential.
