Shasta Environmental Alliance will be leading a downtown Redding Tree Walk with Redding arborist Rico Montenegro on Saturday, June 8 from 9 to 10:30 am.
Rico is a horticultural and native plant specialist who has been working in Redding for over 30 years. He will identify the various trees in downtown, discussing their health and the advantages and disadvantages of the various trees and their suitability to Redding’s hot climate and answer your tree questions.
Among the trees we will identify will include cork oak, flowering pear, London plane tree, camphor tree, ginkgo, red oak, pin oak, Chinese pistache, tulip tree and others.
SEA will be circulating our Tree Petition and discussing plans to increase Redding’s tree canopy. Join your tree loving friends on this friendly and fun casual walk. For more information contact David Ledger at 355-8542. Meet at the north end of the downtown Redding Mall Parking Lot on California Street at 9 am Saturday June 8.
David Ledger will be co-leader and a list of City of Redding approved street trees will be provided to participants. Shasta Environmental Alliance is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) that has 17 supporting organizations.
