Shasta County Grand Jury Accepting Applications for 2019-2020

The Shasta County Superior Court is accepting applications from people who want to serve on the Shasta County Grand Jury in 2019-2020.

    • Do you feel you could make a positive change in Shasta County?
    • Are you interested in local public agencies and community issues?
    • Do you like research, fact finding, analyzing issues and arriving at a conclusion?

The Grand Jury conducts investigations and issues reports to help ensure transparency and accountability among local governments agencies and officials. The term of service is from June 27, 2019 to June 30, 2020 and averages about 15-20 hours per week. You must have been a resident of Shasta County for one year prior to service, a citizen of the United States, and be at least 18 years old to volunteer. Successful applicants will be interviewed and then entered into a drawing to select 19 jurors plus five or six alternates.

3:00 p.m., March 13, 2019 in the Community Room at the Redding Civic Center, 777 Cypress Avenue, Redding, Ca.

5:30 p.m., March 20, 2019 in the Meeting Room of the Northern Valley Catholic Social Service, 2400 Washington Avenue, Redding, Ca.

3:00 p.m., April 4, 2019 in the Community Room at the Redding Civic Center, 777 Cypress Avenue, Redding, Ca.

Grand Jury service calls for diligence, impartiality, open-mindedness, and responsibility. The topics are real and affect members of the community and those agencies and individuals providing public service. Being selected by the Superior Court to be on the Grand Jury is an honor and an opportunity for important community service.
