UC Master Gardeners of Butte County will hold their Fall Plant Sale Saturday, October 27 from 10 am to 2 pm with workshops starting at 9 am. at the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at Patrick Ranch, 10381 Midway, Durham. All plants have been propagated by UC Master Gardeners and selected to thrive in the Butte County climate.
Two outstanding workshops will be offered prior to the sale. At 9 am Master Gardener, Cindy Weiner will present Gardening for Wildlife where she will demonstrate how to help protect and conserve local biodiversity by transforming your yard into a space that welcomes wildlife, including birds and other small critters. A close look at the wildlife garden in the UC Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at Patrick Ranch will illustrate some of the basic ideas presented in this workshop.
At 9:30 am Master Gardener, Tom Hansen will present a workshop on How to Increase Native Pollinators in Your Garden. Learn about colony collapse disorder in honey bees; the pressures on native bee populations; and what we, as homeowners, can do to increase habitat for native pollinators. Bee boxes will be available for sale after the workshop.
