Shasta Environmental Alliance will be featuring Natalie Carter, Executive Director of Butte Environmental Council (BEC) on Wednesday, January 24, 6 pm at Redding Public Library, 1100 Parkview Ave. Carter will be speaking about the history and growth of BEC, their current projects and their political influence. They have candidates asking for their endorsement and support and they are very active in commenting at public meetings.
Shasta Environmental Alliance has 13 supporting organizations including Wintu Audubon, Trails and Bikeways Council, California Native Plant Society, Sierra Club, Horsetown Clear Creek Preserve, Bear Creek Watershed Group, Streams and Greenways Alliance, Battle Creek Alliance, California Wilderness Coalition and more.
We will have updates on the fight to protect the rare Sulphur Creek Brodiaea: the SEA proposal for use of grant money for new state funded Storm Water Resource Plans that will be implemented in Redding; the Churn Creek Market Place and the proposed Costco site that looks like it will remove every tree on site and leave a very visible ugly big box Costco store from the freeway.
The library is now having security guards more aggressively patrol the parking lot and library entrance area for your safety, however the main problem they have there is only loitering.
