The National Park Service is proud to present two evenings of the amazing world of bats on Thursday, July 20th and Saturday, July 22nd at the Oak Bottom Amphitheater. The evening will consist of a 20 minute interactive presentation full of cool bat facts followed by a unique opportunity to see and hear the echolocation calls of bats in your neighborhood! Led by interns with the National Park Service Klamath Network Inventory and Monitoring Program, this presentation begins at 8:00 p.m. and will continue until after dark, about 9:30 – 10:00 p.m. Come prepared for a short presentation and discussion about local bats at the Amphitheater, followed by a 30-40 minute walk in the vicinity of the campground using the latest acoustic technology to see and hear bats as they fly overhead. Wear good walking shoes and bring water and a flashlight or headlamp (one that includes a red light setting is best). For the best chance of hearing bats, expect 1.5 hours.
