
The Shasta College Chorale will be singing a new work by the contemporary composer Dan Forrest, accompanied by 9 percussion instruments. “Three Nocturnes” features poems about the night sky, by American poets Sara Teasdale, Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman. The choir will continue the Whitman theme with a setting of his “Song of Joys” by David Dickau. In addition, Sage Mitchell will perform several solo works for classical guitar. The concert will take place in the Shasta College theatre on Saturday, May 13, at 7:30 p.m. The program will be conducted by Elizabeth Waterbury, D.M.A., accompanied by Ellen Southard on piano.
