Shasta College’s Spring Production of ‘The Foreigner’

Laugh until you fall out of your seat at Shasta College’s Spring play, The Foreigner, a hilarious and heartwarming comedy running March 10th through March 19th at the Shasta College Theatre. The Foreigner, written by Larry Shue, is an inspired comic romp, equal in hilarity to the author’s classic comedy The Nerd. Winner of two off-Broadway awards as well as the Outer Critics Circle Awards, The Foreigner opens with a Friday premier on March 10th and Saturday, March 11th followed by an early weekend on Thursday March 16th through Saturday, March 18th with all show times starting at 7pm. Two matinee performances are scheduled for Sunday, March 12th and 19th at 2pm. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 for students and seniors.

The Foreigner is set in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia often visited by Froggy LeSeuer, a British demolition expert who occasionally runs training sessions at a nearby army base. This time Froggy has brought along a friend, an incredibly shy young man named Charlie who is very overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. Before departing, Froggy tells all assembled that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and does not speak English. The locals take a shine to Charlie and begin to teach him English and American culture. Hilarious hijinks ensue in this heartwarming farce.

The Foreigner features student and local actors Keith Rose, Blake Fisher, Marilyn Robrahn, and John Welsh. The production is directed by Dr. Gregory Thorson with David Fraser as the set designer, costumes by Hilary Fahey, lighting by Eddie Sadler and hair and makeup by Matthew McDonald. The Foreigner is produced with special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.
