The McConnell Foundation yesterday withdrew its offer to purchase the former Redding Police Station, and two lots on west California Street. “The Foundation remains committed to being a long-term stakeholder in the revitalization of downtown Redding,” stated John Mancasola, McConnell’s President & CEO.

“We acknowledge and applaud interest in downtown revitalization efforts and we believe that downtown revitalization involves everyone. The more people working on revitalization, the stronger and more sustainable downtown will be,” added Mancasola. Meeting with community members has encouraged the Foundation that there is energy, passion and interest by the community to concentrate on downtown.

The Foundation will continue with efforts downtown that will enhance revitalization and community vitality. McConnell board members have identified downtown revitalization as a key focus area in both their investment and charitable priorities. “We believe that the Foundation brings to downtown the ability to be a long-term significant partner financially and programmatically. We are willing to invest staff time and resources to help develop amenities that will be defined in the updated Downtown Specific Plan,” shared Lee Salter, Director of Special Projects.
