Tehama SART is proud to be the chosen recipient organization for two benefit performances of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues,” coming in February! The benefit performances are presented by V-Day Tehama-Shasta, a local grassroots organization that is part of an international mission to end violence against women and girls.
The shows are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 17th at the Shasta College Theater in Redding, 11555 Old Oregon Trail; and 8 p.m. Saturday, February 18th at the State Theatre, 333 Oak St. in Red Bluff.
All proceeds stay local to benefit Tehama SART (sexual assault response team). Tehama SART is a team of community members from several agencies committed to an organized and comprehensive response to sexual violence in our community. Tehama SART’s mission is to build communication and collaboration among agencies serving sexual assault survivors and ensure the coordination of a prompt, consistent, and comprehensive multidisciplinary response to sexual violence in our community.
Performed by a dedicated local cast, “The Vagina Monologues” is a collection of moving, often hilarious, heart-wrenching stories that share a common theme: the joys, challenges and trials of owning a vulva. Attendees will hear stories from many aspects of the female experience, with new monologues added each year. “The Vagina Monologues” delves into women’s sexuality, strengths, sisterhood and humor. A few monologues share the pain of rape, abuse and intolerance. The performance includes adult language and content and is intended for mature
audiences; parental guidance is strongly advised.
Attendees will be supporting Tehama SART which will include support for local medical examiners who provide forensic medical exams for survivors of sexual violence, necessary equipment needed for the exams, training for law enforcement, examiners and advocates, and ongoing recovery-orientated services for survivors of violence in our community.
