The Public Health Branch of the Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency is holding a free Hepatitis A vaccine clinic on Saturday, November 5, for anyone who was exposed to a possibly contaminated product at a local restaurant and school.

This frozen strawberry product was delivered to Bella Vista Elementary School and Vittles Restaurant in Anderson and, prior to being recalled, was used in breakfast smoothies at the school on October 25, and in menu items with strawberry syrup and topping at Vittles between October 20 and 28.

People who were exposed and have not already been vaccinated need to be immunized within two weeks of consuming a possibly contaminated product. To help with this, Shasta County’s public health clinic will offer free vaccinations for those who were potentially exposed during 2 special clinics on Friday, November 4 from 1 to 4:30 pm and again on Saturday, November 5 from 10 am to 2 pm at 2650 Breslauer Way in Redding. People who have already been vaccinated or who have had Hepatitis A do not need the vaccine.

We want to give those school students and restaurant employees every opportunity to get this very effective Hepatitis A vaccine, if they have not already received it,” said Venessa Vidovich, Supervising Public Health Nurse.

For more information on the special clinic, call (530) 225-5591. Free Hepatitis A vaccines will also be given to those potentially exposed through November 10, during normal clinic hours (times can be found here).
