Turtle Bay Exploration Park’s West Coast Biennial Art Competition and Exhibition is just around the corner and we wanted to get the word out to you before it goes public.
We are very excited to welcome the 2017 Juror. Critic and independent curator Michael Duncan is a Corresponding Editor for Art in America. His writings have focused on individualistic artists of the twentieth century, West Coast modernism, twentieth century figuration, and contemporary California art. His curatorial projects include surveys of works by Pavel Tchelitchew, Kim MacConnel, Lorser Feitelson, Eugene Berman, Richard Pettibone, Alberto Burri, and Wallace Berman. He is co-curator of the recent exhibitions Someday is Now: The Art of Corita Kent, and An Opening of the Field: Jess, Robert Duncan, & Their Circle (named “Best Thematic Exhibition Outside of New York” by the International Association of Art Critics, 2013).
