Update: Missing Person Rick Turner

Update 1-15-16 7:12 PM.
The Sheriff’s Office has been continuing with the investigation into the reported disappearance of Rick Turner. After disseminating a photo of Mr. Turner to the media and soliciting the public’s help, the Sheriff’s Office received information that Mr. Turner may have been the same person reported as found deceased on December 24, 2015 in the area of the McConnell Foundation’s property, located on the northern end of Shasta View Dr.
The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit contacted the Coroner’s Office with this information. It was determined an adult male had in fact been recovered from that location on December 24, 2015. The Coroner’s Office worked with investigators on establishing the identity of the decedent. Mr. Turner was reported missing on December 28th, 2015.
Using known identifiers associated with Mr. Turner, the Coroner’s Office was able to successfully confirm Mr. Turner’s identity. The autopsy revealed the cause of death as natural. We would like to thank the public for their assistance in helping us identify the decedent and bring closer for Mr. Turner’s family.

On 12/24/15, Thursday at approximately 1200 hours, Rick Lynn Turner drove away from his residence in Millville California in his stock black 2006 Dodge Charger, CA LIC# 5VKH232 for unknown reasons. Turner is described as a 51 year old male, 5’11, 220 pound, hazel eyes, grey hair with grey goatee; tattoos: Calf – Rainbow Trout ‘ELT’; Right Should – Tiger. A picture of Turner is attached.

On 12/28/15, Monday, Turner’s family reported him as missing to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office as he did not attend any family functions over the Christmas weekend.

On 01/03/16, Sunday, Turner’s Dodge Charger was stopped by the Red Bluff Police Department on an enforcement stop in Red Bluff CA. The Charger was occupied by two subjects, neither of which were Turner. The driver reported he purchased the vehicle from Turner and did not know of his whereabouts. The occupants were arrested for unrelated charges and the Charger was towed and stored.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and began conducting follow up regarding the new circumstances. Detectives obtained the Charger and conducted a search of it for evidence which revealed suspicious blood stains inside the passenger compartment. Detectives conducted follow up interviews with the two occupants arrested on 01/03/16 and learned that the Charger was originally located in Redding on the side of the road near the north end of Shasta View near College View Drive. The two subjects contacted in Turner’s Charger on 01/03/16 are not suspected of any wrongdoing of Turner’s disappearance at this time.

Over the past two weeks, through follow up and interviews, Detectives learned that the Charger was left abandoned with the keys inside at the north end of Shasta View on December 24th, about 1624 hours.

As of today, 01/14/16, Thursday, Turner has not been seen nor heard from by family, friends and acquaintances. Additionally, Detectives have not been able to identify any type of “electronic footprint” through social media, phone records, bank records etc.; indicating his activities or whereabouts.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help and if anybody has information as to Turner’s whereabouts or information regarding the circumstances surrounding the Charger being in the Shasta View Drive/College View Drive area on 12/24/15, Christmas Eve, they are urged to contact the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, Major Crimes Unit, 530-245-6135 or by email at mcu@co.shasta.ca.us
