Shasta Chorale To Sing Great Choral Works Of The 21st Century

The Shasta College Community Chorale is seeking new members for the concert to be performed in May. Auditions will be held during the first three weeks of the spring term, starting January 25. 2016. The Chorale meets on Monday evenings at 7:00p.m. in room 638 on the Shasta College campus. Men and women who have some basic musical skill and a desire to sing are welcome.

The Chorale will be singing a concert of current and emerging composers, featuring works by Shawn Kirchner and Ola Gjeilo. Norwegian composer Gjeilo composed “The Lake Isle” based on the poem of William Butler Yeats, “The Lake Isle of Innisfree”. The choral music is accompanied by instrumental groups including strings, guitar and piano. Local guitarist Sage Mitchell, a student in the music department, will accompany.
