Shasta College Opera Workshop presents The Bartered Bride

The Shasta College Division of Arts, Communications, and Social Sciences presents an English-language production of Bedrich Smetana’s wonderful folk opera “The Bartered Bride” beginning on January 28, 2016. The opera features a marriage broker, a circus bear and a young farm worker who “sells” his bride for three hundred gold pieces.  It is filled with beautiful music and sparkling comedy.

Performances will take place in the Shasta College theatre, from Thursday through Saturday nights Jan. 28, 29 and 30 at 7:00 p.m., on Sunday Jan. 31 at 3:00 p.m., and again on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5 & 6 at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are available at the door (cash or check only) for $12.00 (general admission) and $8.00 (seniors and students), or online through the Shasta College website ( For information call the Shasta College Box Office at (530) 242-7573.
