Redding Police Department Announces Promotions

The following employees have been promoted effective December 20, 2015:

Sergeant Bill Schueller has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Lieutenant Schueller began his law enforcement career with Redding Police Department April 6, 1994. He has served as Patrol Officer, Traffic (Motor) Officer, Investigator, Corporal , Sergeant, Admin/Training Sergeant, Services Sergeant, Professional Standards Sergeant. Lt. Schueller has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Management.

Corporal Mark Montgomery has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Montgomery began his law enforcement career in Eureka, CA in 1995 serving there as DARE Officer as well as Field Training Officer. He has been with Redding Police Department since March, 2007, serving as a Police Officer as well as Corporal. Sgt. Montgomery is a Defensive Tactics Instructor and is a former motor officer. He serves the community in his role as Board member at the MLK Center.

Corporal Chris Smyrnos has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Smyrnos worked for Santa Maria Police department for 1 ½ years before coming to Redding Police Department in 2003. Sgt. Smyrnos has served as a Field Training Officer, DUI specialist and is certified as a DRE and SFST Instructor. He has supervised several programs at RPD including the FTO and DRE programs. Sgt. Smyrnos has a Bachelor of Sciences degree from Union Institute and University.

Investigator Levi Solada has been promoted to the rank of Corporal. Corporal Solada began at Redding Police Department in 1999 as a Police Cadet and has advanced to Police Officer assigned to various units including Patrol, Neighborhood Police Unit, SWAT, Investigations (Probation/Parole Unit and Major Crimes). Cpl. Solada has an Associate of Arts degree from Shasta College in Redding.

Investigator Brian Cole has been promoted to the rank of Corporal. Corporal Cole served as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1998 to 2004. He joined Redding Police Department in July of 2006 and has spent the last four years as an Investigator working primarily as the Sexual Assault Investigator. He is a member of the SWAT team, Firearms Instructor, member of the Honor Guard, Peer Support Team and Child Abduction Response Team. Cpl. Cole has a Bachelor of Sciences degree from National University.

Investigator Daniel Smetak has been promoted to the rank of Corporal. Corporal Smetak began his law enforcement career with the Monterey Police Department in December, 2002 and came to the Redding Police Department in July, 2007. He is assigned to the SWAT team and is a Range Master. He stays involved in the community by coaching youth soccer.
