On Tuesday, October 27, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Shasta College will be hosting a Heads Up open house in the Shasta College quad. Heads Up America is a movement that stems from America’s College Promise proposal to make two years of community college free for those willing to work for it. Shasta College has partnered with Heads Up/College Promise to spread the word about the importance and impact that universal access to community college will have on the future of America. This event is our way of celebrating community college and showing our support for getting as many students as possible access to free, high-quality community college education. Our goals are:
- Get as many people as possible to join the movement at HeadsUpAmerica.us or CollegePromise.org
- Get as many responsible students as possible access to a free, high-quality community college education
- Encourage a college-going culture, especially with first generation students
- Celebrate all community colleges by highlighting the positive value and impact they have on their local communities
