The Veterans Resource Center (VRC) in Redding recently purchased a 10-bedroom house for veteran men and women in transition. The house, on South Street and Park Marina Drive, already has some beds and furniture, but is in need of additional basic items to make it a welcoming home.
The VRC purchased the building after receiving a loan from the City of Redding Housing Authority, and some Federal funding. Organizers hope to invite several veterans into the new residence by the first week of September.
Some items still needed include: two new single beds, a washer and dryer, two dining room tables with chairs, an upright freezer, an industrial mop and bucket, bedside tables and small table lamps, a case of compact lightbulbs, kitchen supplies, new patio furniture, toilet paper, and other basics.
VRC volunteers are available to pick up your donated items, which are tax deductible to the extent of the law. For a complete list of needs, or to make a financial contribution, donors may contact Brad Long of the Veterans Resource Center at 223-3211, or through the website here.
