Between August 10-13, 2015, Agents with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Investigative Team, California Department of Fish and Wildlife Marijuana Enforcement Team, California Department of Fish and Wildlife Wetland Team, Shasta County Code Enforcement, Bureau of Land Management, and C.A.M.P (Campaign Against Marijuana Planting) conducted several marijuana operations in Shasta County.
On Monday 8/10 agents conducted an operation in a rural area near Snow Creek north/west of Shingletown, CA. During entry into the cultivation site, agents encountered one Hispanic male adult, identified as Lauriano Farias Ochoa. Ochoa failed verbal commands and fled from agents. A K-9 was deployed and was able to assist in the apprehension of Farias. Ochoa was later determined to be from Jalisco, Mexico. Agents located and seized 1,145 growing marijuana plants along with scales and packaging material. Additionally, during reclamation efforts agents seized approximately 500 lbs of garbage, pesticides, and miscellaneous items.
On Tuesday morning 8/11 agents conducted an operation on public land north/west of Shingletown. A total of 1,142 growing marijuana plants were subsequently eradicated and seized. No suspects were encountered. Later Tuesday afternoon Agents conducted an operation south of Oak Run to Fern Rd in Oak Run, CA. Agents located and seized 2,377 marijuana plants. One Hispanic male adult was observed working in the grow site, however, the suspect fled from officers and was able to avoid apprehension.
On Wednesday morning 8/12 agents conducted an operation in Mosquito Creek near McCardle Flat. During this operation 398 marijuana plants were eradicated and seized. On Wednesday afternoon Shasta County Code Enforcement and California Fish and Wildlife conducted several investigations in the Highland Lakes road area of Lakehead, CA. A total of 471 growing marijuana plants were seized. Numerous code and environmental violations were cited.
On Thursday 8/13 agents conducted an operation off Backbone Rd in rural Eastern Shasta County. During entry agents encountered two Hispanic male adults. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. The subjects were identified as Miguel Torres Delgado and Jose De Jesus Castellanos-Ramirez. Both subjects were determined to be from Jalisco, Mexico. Agents seized 11,113 plants from the grow site along with approximately 14 lbs of processed marijuana, scales and packaging material. Agents additionally removed approximately 2,300 lbs of fertilizer and over 1,000 lbs of miscellaneous growing materials, pesticides and trash during reclamation efforts.
A total of 16,646 marijuana plants were eradicated this week from public and private land in Shasta County. Additionally, officers removed approximately 4,400 pounds of trash, pesticides, and fertilizer during reclamation efforts and a total of three arrests were made.
The subjects arrested this week were subsequently booked into the Shasta County Jail on a combination of the below listed charges.
