Soprano Sydney Mancasola to Join Vocal Institute Staff

Sydney head shotSydney Mancasola, a Redding native, Shasta College graduate and 2013 winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, will join the staff of the 2015 Shasta Vocal Institute. The Institute begins Mon., July 27, and will conclude with a final concert on Thurs., Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Shasta College Theater. (Mancasola will not be in attendance for that concert.)

After leaving Shasta College, Mancasola completed her Bachelor of Music degree at Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She then went on to the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where she was featured in many productions.

The Shasta Vocal Institute, held at Shasta College, is an intensive three-week training program for high school and college-age singers. In the Vocal Institute, Mancasola, now a rising young opera star, will be assisting with voice teaching and repertoire coaching.

Robert Waterbury, the Institute’s Artistic Director, says “We are incredibly excited and honored to have Sydney joining us this year. As a graduate of Shasta College and the Vocal Institute, she is a terrific role model and an example of what talent, combined with hard work, can accomplish. It will be wonderful to give our students the opportunity to have her guidance and support.”
