URGENT: Hayward Air Rally Still Has Scholarship Available for North State Youth

Editor’s note: As of Jan. 19, this scholarship was still available for this all-expenses-paid experience.

Each summer, the Experimental Aircraft Association conducts an Air Academy at their campus in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. High school students are given an opportunity to attend and learn all about aviation. Participants spend a week at the Air Academy Lodge in Oshkosh, completely immersed in the exciting world of aviation. Top-notch instructors help to explore the world of flight through aviation studies, hands-on activities, flight simulation and many other exciting experiences. The highlight of the week is a flight in a real airplane.

Each year the Hayward Air Rally awards a scholarship to a high school student in the Redding area to the EAA Air Academy. The 2015 dates for the Advanced Air Academy is July 24th through August 1st. The Hayward Air Rally is a charitable non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to aviation safety. The primary activity of the Hayward Air Rally is staging an annual proficiency cross country flight competition that takes place in June each year. The route of the competitive flight is from Hayward, CA to Redding and then on to Bend Oregon. This year the Air Rally will award a scholarship to a 16 to 18 year old at each one of those locations. The Air Rally will pay all transportation, tuition and room and board expenses for the successful scholarship applicants. You can find more information about the Hayward Air Rally at www.hwdairrally.org.

If a Redding area high school student between 16 and 18 wishes to apply for the Redding scholarship, please go to the Redding EAA web site, www.eaa157.org, and download an application. Send the completed application to the address on the application. Applications must be submitted by February 1st, 2015.
