On August 15, 2014 at 12:18 pm, Redding Police officers responded to Redding Bank of Commerce (1951 Churn Creek Road) for a call of a subject trying to cash a manufactured check. By the time officers arrived, the male subject who was attempting to pass the counterfeit check was a passenger in a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot. Officers detained the occupants of the vehicle, at which time they identified the suspect as Sean Michael Obrien, age 26, of Redding. Obrien was found to be in possession of heroin and hypodermic syringes. He was using a stolen driver’s license in an attempt to conceal his true identity.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Megan Lee Seiler, age 24, of Redding. She was found to be in possession of methadone without a prescription, Lorazapam without a prescription, methamphetamine, and hypodermic syringes. Another male passenger was released, without charges, at the scene.

Redding Police Property Crime Investigators responded to the scene. They brought Obrien and Seiler to Investigations for questioning.

Obrien was arrested for forgery, identity theft, attempting to pass a manufactured check, and miscellaneous drug possession charges. Seiler was booked for drug and paraphernalia possession charges.
