On Tuesday, July 22nd, 2014, Claude Alexander Schmies, 48 years of Redding, passed away at Mercy Medical Center. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014.
John Raymond Fritz, 29 years of Redding, is in stable condition, and was able to speak with investigators today.
The assault which caused injuries to Schmies and Fritz remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Redding Police Department at (530)225-4200.
