Girls Inc. NSV Celebrates Community Leaders at May Day Tea

Girls Incorporated of the Northern Sacramento Valley invites the public to May Day for the Girls, an afternoon tea to honor strong, smart and bold leaders of the north state and to thank Girls Inc. NSV’s supporters.

Come and enjoy delicious food and refreshments, a silent auction, and a lovely afternoon. All proceeds support Girls Inc. NSV, the non-profit organization that has served girls ages 6 to 18 in Tehama and Shasta counties since 2006. Girls Inc. NSV’s mission is “to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold!”

What: May Day for the Girls, an afternoon tea and community awards ceremony
When: Sunday, May 4, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Where: Carlino’s Room at Rolling Hills Casino, Corning
Why: To honor our community’s leaders with the Strong, Smart and Bold Awards and the Barbara McIver Award, proudly named after Girls Inc. NSV’s founder.

Attendees will be supporting Girls Inc. NSV and its programs for local girls, including all-girl group classes that promote leadership and community service in girls, link them with local mentors, and encourage the pursuit of higher education.

Girls Inc.’s wide range of empowering programs also teaches girls economic literacy, encourages their participation in sports, educates them about non-traditional careers in science, math, technology and engineering, and guides them in nurturing their own self-esteem.
