On Friday, Sept. 6 at approximately 1023 hours, the victim, 18-year-old Robinson Vicksalsovand Sok, and a group of friends were on a houseboat mid-channel on the McCloud Arm, when the victim attempted to help a friend who was swimming and began to struggle. In his efforts, the victim began to struggle and went under water. He did not resurface. The victim’s friends attempted to locate him, however, they were unsuccessful. They then called 911 and the Boating Safety Unit, Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team , Cal Fire and CHP air operations responded to the scene. Divers were not used as this area of the lake is very deep. A remotely operated vehicle and a side scan sonar were used in an attempt to locate the victim. The victim has not been located and the search will continue on Saturday.

How unfortunate. I do hope Robinson Vicksalsovand Sok went into the loving arms of our sweet Jesus Christ peacefully and as painlessly as possible.

God rest his soul and best to the family.
