On December 28, 2012, at approximately 5:13 PM, Redding Police Officers responded to South Market Street and Ellis Street regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision.
Investigation revealed that Jon Steven Muse, 28 years of Redding, was driving a GMC panel van westbound on Ellis Street and was making a left turn onto southbound South Market Street. While making the turn, Muse struck Edward L. James, 72 years of Redding, who was crossing eastbound in the crosswalk on the south side of the intersection.
Muse was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured as a result of the collision. James was transported via ambulance to Mercy Medical Center with moderate injuries and was admitted for further treatment. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor at this time.
