Homeless Continuum of Care Council to hold Homeless Memorial

Thursday, December 20th, 2012 Hosted by the Good News Rescue Mission, Homeless Departed to Be Remembered, Honored in Ceremony.

(Redding, CA) On the eve of the first official day of winter, the City of Redding and Shasta County Continuum of Care Council (COC) will be participating in a day of mourning and honor in the chapel of the Good News Rescue Mission.

The Good News Rescue Mission will host an 11am memorial to recognize the lives of our homeless friends, neighbors and family members that were lost in our community during 2012. Attendees are invited to stay for lunch after the service.

Names of the departed, gathered by the CoC, will be engraved and mounted on an annual wall display, by the Good News Rescue Mission.

“The onset of winter and bitter cold nights are timely reminders of the plight of families and individuals who live without a home in Shasta County,” said Continuum of Care Coordinator, Jessica Delaney. “This ceremony will honor those struggling neighbors that are no longer with us.”

The ceremony is open to the public. The media is invited to attend, but asked to respect the families and friends of the deceased. Interviews are welcome prior to or after the event.
