At noon today (Friday) the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office,  along with the Department of Public Works and Traffic Solutions, will open Rock Creek Road, Ponderosa Way, and Forwards Mill Road to residents of the appropriate areas where they reside.

Only residents with proper identification will be allowed into these areas. There is still fire personnel working in the areas listed below and the conditions are not in favor of opening the entire area to all citizens.

* Closed areas still in effect: south of Highway 44 between S-line and A-line road. That includes the following roads leading south of Highway 44: A-line, S-line, and P-line. Long Hay Flat Road at Bailey Creek, and Rock Creek Road at Bailey Creek.

* All private roads and Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) roads, south of Highway 44 are still closed until further notice.

* All burned areas are closed until further notice.

All dirt roads and SPI roads are closed south of Shingletown, please refrain from trying to enter this area. This will only delay fire suppression in the area.

The Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the citizens and the public for their patience regarding the road closures. The closures are a necessity and an obligation of the Sheriff”s Office to keep everyone safe from the impeding fires that invaded the areas south of Shingletown and to maintain a safe area for fire crews.

For additional information regarding the current fire situation, the number is 225-2510. To report a crime or any type of emergency the number is always 911. If you need to contact the Sheriffs office for a non-emergency incident, the phone number is 245-6540.
