Redding Man Arrested for Alleged Elder Abuse

The Redding Police Department began investigating an elder abuse report on Sunday, October 9, 2011, which occurred at a residence in the 500 block of Hartnell Avenue.

The investigation determined Kenneth Saunders, 51 years of Redding, had been physically abusing his 80 year-old mother for several weeks. The physical abuse included pushing her down and breaking her tailbone and throwing a large, metal flashlight at her.

Redding Police Department officers located Kenneth Saunders at the residence at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2011. He was arrested and booked into the Shasta County jail for elder abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery, resisting arrest, and violation of probation.
