Redding Police Investigate Lake Blvd Armed Robberies

On Thursday, September 29, 2011 at approximately 8:34 P.M. Redding Police Officers responded to 201 Lake Blvd. (Raley’s) regarding a robbery of an employee at gun point. There officers contacted 18 year-old victim.

The employee was bringing in shopping carts when he was approached by a Hispanic male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and shorts. The suspect brandished a black firearm and demanded the victim’s wallet. After the victim gave his wallet to the suspect, the suspect walked away westbound in the parking lot.

The suspect possibly got into a small, silver, four door vehicle which left towards Lake Blvd. at a high rate of speed.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male 25-30 years of age, 5’-10” tall, 170 pounds, short brown hair, with a mustache, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and shorts.

The victim was not injured during the robbery.

On Thursday, September 29, 2011 at approximately 9:47 P.M., Redding Police Officers responded to the area of Lake Blvd. and St. Nicholas regarding a robbery of a pedestrian.

The victim, 26 years of Redding, reported that he was walking in the area of Lake Blvd. and St. Nicholas when the suspect rode up to him on a dark colored mountain bike. The suspect asked him if he wanted to purchase some marijuana. When the victim refused, the suspect brandished a firearm and demanded that the victim give him a fast food restaurant bag and soda that the victim was carrying. He complied, and the suspect rode away eastbound on Lake Blvd. with the victim’s meal.

The suspect’s description was similar to that described in an earlier reported robbery of a Raley’s employee around 8:34 P.M. in the Raley’s parking lot on Lake Blvd. The suspect was described as white male 25-30 years of age, 5-10, 170 pounds, short brown hair, moustache, and last seen wearing a white shirt and shorts.

The victim was not injured during the robbery.
