
Bryon Edward Benson
On September 5, 2011, at 6:14 p.m., officers from the Redding Police Department responded to Hilltop Drive, south of Lake Boulevard, regarding a roll-over traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers learned from witnesses that an adult male and a juvenile male had fled the scene on foot, southbound on Hilltop Drive. The vehicle was upside down and had sustained major damage.
A short time later, an adult and juvenile were contacted in the area that matched the description provided by witnesses. The adult male was identified as Bryon Edward Benson, 37 years of Mountain Gate. Benson was the registered owner of the involved vehicle and admitted to driving. Benson was also identified as the driver by a witness.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Benson had been driving while under the influence of alcohol. Benson’s 12-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. Benson was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury, hit-and-run with injury, and child endangerment.
