If you’re considering a career change, looking for part time work or need some extra income, contact the Economic and Workforce Development Division (EWD) at Shasta College. Sign-up for this six-week course: Beginning – School Bus Driver. Course topics include: Driver’s License & Special Certificate Requirement; School Bus Operation, Use, Regulations; Vehicle Components; Defensive Driving & Specialized Defensive Driving; Student Loading & Unloading; Emergency Procedures; Pupil Management; Field Trips; The Exceptional Child; and Driver Public Relations.
After completing this course, students will be able to pass the necessary written examinations given by DMV and CHP to begin the Behind-The-Wheel training process in order to obtain their commercial driver license and special driver certificate to drive a school bus. School Districts are currently looking for qualified School Bus Drivers. Some may reimburse or sponsor your training. Contact the school district for further information.
This course begins September 7 and runs through October 19, 2011. It meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shasta College Downtown campus (1400 Market Street). The registration fee is $150.
