Johnson to Lead Shasta Regional Community Foundation

After a very through and diligent search, the board and staff of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the new Chief Executive Officer is Kathy Johnson.

“I am very pleased to be able to serve in this key leadership role,” she said. “My hope is that, together, we can build on the exciting work that has already been done by the foundation to address needs in Shasta and Siskiyou Counties. With its strong board, capable staff and generous donors, the foundation will thrive in the years to come.”

Kathy was born and raised in central Minnesota. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in Management with a concentration in “Organized Philanthropy” from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.

Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Kathy served as the executive director of the Celebration Foundation in Celebration, Florida and as Vice President of the Northland Foundation in Duluth, Minnesota.

Most recently, Kathy operated a Hollister-based consulting firm that worked with individual donors, non-profit organizations and private corporations to carry out their strategic goals.

Kathy has provided leadership in creating numerous non-profit organizations and has significant experience working with private philanthropic endeavors, non-profit management, leadership programs, fund development and volunteerism.

“We are excited to welcome Kathy to the Community Foundation. We believe that she possesses all of the characteristics of a proven leader, is community minded and has a strong financial background,” said Kendell Seamans, Board Chair.

Kathy Johnson will begin on September 12, 2011.

The Shasta Regional Community Foundation is a resource building organization in Shasta and Siskiyou Counties dedicated to meeting community needs through philanthropy, education and information.
