CalFire, the California Department of Forestry, inmate crews, and volunteer fire departments worked together during the night to contain a fire in steep terrain near Igo.
The fire started shortly after midnight in Clear Creek Canyon near the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Bridge on Placer Road. The cause has yet to be determined, but it may have been started by a downed power line.
Crews worked on rocky hillsides throughout the night and kept the fire to approximately 17 acres.
As of 9 a.m. this morning, the fire was contained.
No structures were lost.
Igo residents lost power for approximately five hours.
Special thanks to Barbara Rice of Igo for the story and photo.
