People living with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, lung disease, chronic pain and others are invited to attend a workshop series that will assist them in taking control of their health. The Healthier Living program helps participants manage their chronic condition, communicate better with their doctor, family members and friends, lessen frustration, learn how to relax and manage stress, and fight fatigue and pain. Hill Country Health and Wellness Clinic will be hosting the six-week workshop for Hill Country clients every Tuesday starting May 10.
The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP), also known as Healthier Living, is a Stanford University evidence-based program where people learn how to develop personal health goals and problem-solving techniques to overcome barriers to achieving those goals. A previous workshop participant said, “I enjoyed the workshop very much. It was interesting to see the transformation in some of the participants from depressed individuals to positive individuals.”
The workshops are led by facilitators who either have a chronic condition or care for someone with a chronic condition. To register for this FREE workshop, call 337-6243 extension 642 or register on-line at www.cahealthierliving.org/shasta.html.
