Grooving with the Girls Makes Women’s Health Good Fun

What: Mercy Hosts Grooving with the Girls – an Evening of Fun and Health Information Just for Women

When: May 5, 5 p.m.

Where: Red Lion Hotel, Redding

Mercy Medical Center Redding will host Grooving with the Girls, a fun and innovative way of presenting important health information to women in the North State. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a fashion boutique and health expo. Women will have the opportunity to shop local businesses and vendors as well as receive health education products and information. Special guest speaker Tracey Conway — heart disease survivor and contributing author to “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Heart Disease” — will present the keynote address. Following Tracy’s presentation, women will be able to choose from one of the following three health forums on a topic of their choice:

Pump a Heart Specialist for Answers
Edward Pottmeyer (M.D., Medical Director, Cardiovascular Program Services), and Bruce Miller (M.D., Medical Director, Cardiac Care Unit, Cardiac Telemetry Department, Cardiac Non-invasive Services), will answer women’s heart health questions.

Brainy Girls
Richard Karem (MD, Neurologist and Medical Director of Mercy Medical Center Redding’s Stroke Program), R. Siobhan Dekker (MSN, FNP, CNRN), and Susan Lee (RN, CNRN, Stroke Coordinator at Mercy Medical Center Redding), will eliminate the myths and give the facts on headaches, migraines and the warning signs of a stroke.

Groove to a Healthier Weight
Nikita Gill, MD, Cardiologist and Gisela Okonski, MD, Cardiologist, will help women eat smart, move more and weigh less. They will discuss non-surgical weight loss leading to a healthier lifestyle.
