Our unique area is blessed with beautiful national and state parks that are easy to access and amazing to explore. Come and interact with staff from Lassen National Park, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, Shasta State Historic Park and William B. Ide Adobe State Historic Park and learn about the wonders that these and other parks in the area have to offer.
Redding Sports Ltd. will also be on hand providing visitors with tips on outfitting for a trip to the far reaches of the wilderness. Join us for these and other activities with our MTVs (Museum Teen Volunteers) who celebrate the natural wonders of these parks.
Also as part of the festivities, at 11 a.m. we welcome children’s book author Mike Graf. Former KRCR television weathercaster and author of more than 70 books for children, Mike presents a special program for audiences 8 years old and up. Mike will share images and tales of National Park adventures from Yosemite, Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone National Parks, as well as suggestions for aspiring authors of children’s chapter novel fiction. Be prepared to hear about bears, scorpions, rock climbing, geysers, and other outdoor topics. Mike will be available for book signings after the talk.
All activities are FREE with park admission.
