3/4/2011 Full Closures of Hwy 44 at I-5 Coming

Full closures of State Route 44 beneath Interstate 5 at the I-5/SR 44 Interchange are planned. Beginning at 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, and running through 7 a.m. March 10, westbound SR 44 will be closed. Also, beginning at 11 p.m. Thursday, March 10, and running through 7 a.m. Friday, March 11, the eastbound lanes will be closed.

The closures are necessary for removal of a portion of bridge barrier rail, which is part of the I-5/SR 44 interchange improvement project currently in construction.  Detours will be available and clearly marked. The eastbound SR 44 ramp to southbound I-5 and the westbound SR 44 ramp to northbound I-5 will remain open.

Eastbound traffic will detoured south on Interstate 5 to Cypress Avenue and westbound traffic will be detour north on I-5 to Lake Blvd.  Weather may delay work into Friday or Saturday, March 11th and 12th.

Motorists can expect intermittent short duration ramp closures, including the Dana Drive ramp to westbound SR 44, throughout the duration of the project.

Please remember that the Bicycle/Pedestrian path will also be closed from the connection to North Bechelli Lane and at the entrance from Dana Drive from 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, until 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 8.
