Seven string and wind musicians from North State Symphony will perform three works by composers F.J. Haydn, Serge Prokoviev and Antonin Dvorak. The three works represent three major eras in musical history, according to Kyle Wiley Pickett, the symphony’s music director, who will be on hand to introduce the concerts.
In addition to the Haydn quartet, the musicians will play a quintet by the Romantic composer Dvorak, best known for his New World Symphony. Also on the program is a work for oboe, clarinet and strings by Prokoviev, who’s best known for “Peter and the Wolf.”
The seven musicians involved include Redding resident LiYuan Ho, Chicoans Russ Burnham and Susie Lundberg, and four other principals of the orchestra, including concertmaster Terrie Baune, from Humboldt County.
