Last Call for Slam Buckra: A Celebration of His Swankiness

A gathering to remember late north state musician Slam Buckra is set for 4 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 13) at the Vintage Wine Bar and Restaurant (1790 Market St.) in Redding.

The invitation goes out to (in Buckra’s oft used phraseology): “Friends, Fans and Fins of Slam Buckra.” Music by Slam and some of his other favorite composers will be played, along with a slide show.

Members of Buckra’s band, the Groove Palookas, will perform a few songs.

Party organizers are asking guests to dress in their “stage best,” which can be interpreted to be anything outlandish in the style of the musician himself.

E-mail invitations were also sent out in Slam style, saying the event is set to begin at 4:11 p.m. and end at 7:53 p.m.
