Shasta Regional Medical Center is celebrating American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” day on Friday, Feb. 4, with an evening gala of “Dark Chocolate and Red Wine” and a showing of the romantic film, “Sleepless in Seattle,” at the Cascade Theatre.

The gala will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and feature a selection of red wines and dark chocolates followed by “Sleepless in Seattle” at 7 p.m. This event is to raise awareness of “Go Red For Women,” a national campaign designed to dispel the myth that cardiovascular disease is an “older man’s disease” but rather is the number one killer of women.

Heart Throb Specialists — Drs. McConnell, Khan, Coronado, Chandramouli and Russ — will be at the event to stimulate heart disease awareness and empower both women and men to live a heart healthy life.

With one in three adult women in the United States suffering from a form of cardiovascular disease, Shasta Regional Medical Center recognizes the importance of educating women to do more than just be aware, but to know their risk for heart disease and to take action against it.
