On January 20, 2011 officers from the Redding Police Department responded to the area of Eastside Rd. and South Bonnyview Dr. for the report of a single vehicle roll over traffic collision.
A white 1993 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling southbound on Eastside Rd. south of South Bonnyview Dr. negotiating a right hand turn. The driver was attempting to pass another vehicle in the right hand lane. The Nissan accelerated during the turn loosing control of the vehicle. The driver over corrected, which caused the vehicle to over turn. While the vehicle was airborne the driver was ejected landing on the roadway.
The driver was transported to Mercy Medical Center with major head trauma where she was pronounced deceased.
The driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification by the Shasta County Coroner’s office.
It is unknown if the driver was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision. It is also unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
