On January 13, 2011 approximately 3:38 PM, Redding Police Officers responded to the Safeway store at 2275 Pine Street in Redding regarding a reported armed robbery. When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, Dylan Roachcarr, 25 years, of Millville, CA. Roachcarr told officers he was in the parking lot of Safeway when the suspect, described as a White male adult in his late 20’s, 5’8”, 140 lbs with dark hair and an unknown type tattoo on his right wrist approached him. He further described the suspect as wearing dark blue pants, and a black shirt with an unknown silver colored print over a grey undershirt. Roachcarr told officers the suspect walked with a limp.
Roachcarr told officers the suspect produced a black semi-automatic pistol from under his shirt, pushed him and struck him across the left side of his face with the pistol. The suspect then demanded Roachcarr’s money. Roachcarr gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect fled in a southwesterly direction on foot and was last seen heading toward South City Park.
Officers conducted an extensive area check which was met with negative results.
