Soroptimist International of Redding, a volunteer organization for business and professional women, is excited to announce that it will be sponsoring a full day of presentations by Hello Mr. Brown for students at Turtle Bay and Manzanita Schools on Tuesday, January 11, 2011.
Hello Mr. Brown is an energetic speaker who captivates audiences. Over the past year, Hello Mr. Brown has spoken in front of over 17,000 Shasta County youth and adults as he shares his message on making healthy life choices and how those choices impact our lives.
“My mission in life is to bring a message of hope and direction to students who are faced with difficult and sometimes painful choices in life. I want them to know life isn’t what they see on TV and in the media. I want them to know that their choices are powerful and can lead to the life they dream of because choices are the puzzle pieces of life.”
Bullying is an ongoing issue in our society and one that causes great stress in children’s lives and can impact their level of learning. Soroptimist International of Redding (SIR) sees the importance of educating our children on the impacts of bullying in someone’s life, and how we can change the way we treat one another. By bringing Hello Mr. Brown to the students of Turtle Bay and Manzanita, SIR is sure to leave a lasting impression on the lives of students in grades 2 through 8. Turtle Bay and Manzanita Schools were selected for this sponsorship because they reported that they would have otherwise not been able to afford bringing Mr. Brown to their schools this year. After hearing the impact Mr. Brown has made on other students throughout the county, SIR wanted to help Turtle Bay and Manzanita offer this same opportunity to their student body.
